What cover does
Get 50% back if the dev sells during your cover.
When you buy a pump.fun coin on Airbag, flip Insure this buy, pick how long you want to be covered and pay the cover price. The buy and the cover price go in the same transaction, which your wallet signs.
If the coin's dev sells during your cover, half of the SOL your buy spent is sent back to the wallet that made the buy. You keep your coins either way.
The tiers
Three cover windows. Each one starts the moment your buy is confirmed. 24 hours is the longest.
The tiers
| Tier | Covers the dev selling within | Pays back | Price, of your buy |
|---|---|---|---|
| Flash | 10 minutes | 50% | 27% |
| Hour | 1 hour | 50% | 35% |
| Day | 24 hours | 50% | 45%Example |
The price is a share of your buy and is paid on top of it. Network fees are extra, as with any buy.
What “the dev sold” means
The dev is the wallet that created the coin. At your buy, Airbag notes how many of the coin's tokens that wallet holds. If at any moment during your cover it holds 20% fewer than that, the dev sold.
- Selling counts. Any sale that takes the dev's bag 20% or more below its size at your buy.
- Moving tokens out counts too. Sending them to another wallet is treated the same as selling.
- It's measured against your buy. What the dev did before your buy doesn't count, and buying back later doesn't undo a drop.
- Only the dev's wallet counts. Other holders selling, or the price falling, doesn't trigger a payout.
A covered buy Example
- Your buy
- 1.00 SOL
- Cover: Hour, at a 35% price
- 0.35 SOL
- Dev holds at your buy
- 40,000,000
- Dev holds 25 minutes later (25% less)
- 30,000,000
- Sent back to your wallet
- 0.50 SOL
What can't be insured
- The dev's own wallet. The creator can't insure a buy of their own coin.
- Wallets funded by the dev. A wallet that got SOL from the creator, from the wallet that funded the creator, or from a wallet the creator funded can't insure that coin. Busy exchange wallets don't count as a funder.
- Coins where the dev holds too little. If the creator holds less than 1% of the supply, selling 20% of it costs them almost nothing, so there's nothing worth covering. The coin page says so.
- Coins whose dev already sold. Once a coin's dev sold during someone's cover, that coin and the dev's other coins can't be insured again.
Limits
The limits
| What | Limit |
|---|---|
| Cover per wallet, per coin | 1 at a time |
| Smallest insured buy | 0.01 SOL |
| Largest insured buy | 2 SOL |
| Open cover on one coin, all buyers together | 10 SOL |
| Open cover on all of one dev's coins | 10 SOL |
When a limit is reached, or cover is full for now, new cover opens again as earlier cover ends. You can still buy the coin without cover.
What it costs, and what it doesn't do
- The cover price isn't refunded. If the dev doesn't sell during your cover, the cover ends and the price is spent.
- It pays half, not all. The payout is 50% of the SOL your buy spent. The cover price isn't part of it.
- Only the dev selling counts, and only inside your window. A sell one minute after your cover ends doesn't pay.
- Coins can still go to zero. Cover doesn't protect the price. Memecoins are very risky.
